CES 2012 Round-Up (Droid 4, Droid RAZR MAXX, HTC Titan 2, Nokia Lumia 900, Galaxy Note, and more!)
It was an exciting week and PhoneDog had tons of CES coverage. We got hands-on time with all of the hot new devices and have posted plenty of videos and galleries. During the show, we discussed the most popular announcements. We saw new flagship phones from Motorola and Verizon, AT&T, Nokia, Samsung and more. Is the Droid 4 the phone should look into if you need a physical keyboard? Is it worth it to upgrade from the RAZR to the RAZR MAXX? Is the Titan 2 the best Windows Phone or should you go for the Lumia 900 instead? We answer all of the questions during this week’s episode of PhoneDog Live. Check out the timeline below to skip around to the device that you want to hear about. Timeline of Topics: 2:49 – Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket HD (ANOTHER Galaxy S II from AT&T?) 4:41 – Samsung Galaxy Note 10:00 – Pantech Burst 13:23 – Pantech Element 18:01 – HTC Titan II 22:21 – Nokia Lumia 900 27:00 – Droid 4 32:14 – Droid RAZR MAXX 34:22 – Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G 35:39 – Sony Xperia Ion 39:02 – Sony Xperia S 41:06 – Toshiba Excite X10 43:23 – Open Q&A

I’m up to 29min n haven’t hurd u talk about the new Sony phone.Didn’t have time to watch the whole video but did u talk about it?
Thanks for ur video !
thanks for the information
Thnxs guys. I’m probably gonna go with Android and most likely a Galaxy S2. I really want the Epic 4G Touch in white. So Android it is.
I LOVE T-Mobile.The only carrier that cares~ Never had a problem with them the past 12 years.
@PhoneDogSydney Any idea which website i could get it from straight from my phone?
I agree with you about distinguishing b/w high end, mid and low end phones… the lines are definitely blurred… I consider my Triumph Mid-Range
@kiman2 why would u mind u have watch it on youtube
Damn where the hell is t mobile lol
@kiman
I was about to say through this whole thing i didnt hear anything about tmobile phones YIKES! i saw this design for an ‘htc ville” but it didnt look like i heard any phones at all wow they are in trouble
@thachillest1 That is a valid point as well. I didn’t really understand that’s what you were getting at with the first comment. I suppose there are ways WP devices could separate themselves from each other by adding More, to then help justify a higher price point. I would assume they are working on that, but for now I see what you are saying.
Sydney, why do you look so gray?
@skiptopher You make a good point; however, as an Android user I only purchase high-end devices. So, if I were ever to purchase a Windows Phone, I would like to feel that my money went towards that end. For one, I’m still waiting for a Windows Phone that offers 32 GB or more.
@PhoneDogSydney I was hoping you would say that!! I’m glad to hear that you would go with Android b4 IOS. I am a Android fan myself and i would also go with Windows phone if android never existed so virtual high-five Sydney!
Ps what happen to Symbian os?
@PhoneDogSydney Thank you for the help…
@thachillest1 I think you could look at that two ways. A pessimist would say that the high end devices aren’t high enough. You could also say that the low end devices (thankfully?) aren’t as low in comparison. Which you do find on android. It’s a matter of opinion I suppose
@kiman2 I don’t mind, either!
Sydney, it’s funny how you kept saying that the new Android devices didn’t seem to be much different from their predecessors, but when I look at the Lumia 710 and 900, the latter only has a larger screen, a FF camera, LTE, and an additional 8 GB (still negligible in my opinion). Oh yeah, and it does look better – but is that going to be worth an extra 200? Windows Phone doesn’t have enough differentiation between its lower end and higher end… and this isn’t trolling but frustration.
Sydney, do you have a hard stop about the length of the show? I personally don’t care if you go over an hour… if I need to go somewhere, I’ll just leave. If you want to keep going, I don’t think anyone minds.
Photo quality is not only about lens but a combo of sensor size and sensitivity, lens quality, and software (noise reduction, sharpening, etc). On phones, the sensor and lens will be tiny compared to p&s cameras, much less dslr. Cramming in 16mp into a tiny sensor sounds like a desperate move by HTC and is insulting (hey, boost the mp count, the idiot consumers will flock to it!). In general, less pixels in a given sensor area = better quality. IP4S has a better sensor compared to other phones.
@bluekillz1994 well i just got the htc radar from tmobile on the 4th.. i’ve always wanted a white phone haha.. i know its no htc titan 2 or anything like that but wow.. no lag no bugs or anything.. dont think ill ever go back to android.. not even for the s2.. ill take my ghz processor with no problems over android anyday.. the only thing id leave wp7 for now is prob the iphone.. if tmobile ever gets there..
@mosesE7 You can download the .apk from the internet. Just do a simple Google search for it. However, your phone should automatically update it eventually. It shouldn’t take very long.
@xxxecutive1 For Android it is. Nvidia’s new Tegra 3 processor is also more battery efficient.
@marshalsdas The Flyer is a great tablet for the price, especially now that it has received the Honeycomb update. I’d say that’s a good choice.

This phone is really amazing. While not the greatest and newest hardware, ICS alone makes up for that. Besides, it’s hardware is no joke either. I know better phones will come out soon but that will always be the case with all technology. However ICS is huge leap in the right direction for android and this is coming from an iPhone user
Can’t wait to switch over to the GN. C’mon Wind Mobile and release it already dammit lol.
@mohsin213jc you are using youtube, a google owned service, now GTFO
Got custom roms for my gnex, excellent battery life and it flys
Love it
@GaaraOfTheDesert212 ok, fine, thats your opinion, and i don’t have anything against it. people just have one against others liking the iphone
@Rango7000 And what was your comment? Lol, at least I’m open minded about it. I love some things about the iPhone. iOS is SMOOTH! And it just works great most of the time. It’s simple. I recommend it to my friends and family looking for something simple. But to me it’s incredibly boring and doesn’t have all the things I need/want.
@GaaraOfTheDesert212 lol. i love how android fanoboys always hate on apple users…
@VenusCrescentBeam. Yes this phone is a top phone but if your contract runs out May the Samsung Galaxy S3 will have just been released ( if your from europe that is) so i would get the S3 as this will be the number 1 phone around, however if your from the US and the S3 isnt released by May the Galaxy Nexus is still a great phone to choose.

@Rango7000 Lawl, a lot of people don’t care for subscribers and have youtube accounts soley for commenting. The fact that you looked and used it as an insult shows how sad your life probably is.
@Rango7000 True but just search “Android” on youtube. Theres a video of it from 2007. It already had notfications and many things Apple copied later on.
Damn, got to save money for new phone
Is this soft porno dubstep playing in the background?

Just checking, but is this phone good? The 3 year contract on my old phone is up in May and I just wanted to know whether or not this was the right phone to get. I know that better phones may come out in 3-4 months, but for the time being I wanna have a phone in mind. I’m really bad when it comes to technology haha
