Kingston has just made the withdrawal of their 3 types of USB drives from the market. Security problems is the reason the withdrawal of these products.

Notification of this ‘defects’ has been published in their official website, Kingston.com. This company recognizes that “people who have specific expertise with adequate tools and physical access, can retrieve data that is protected in this USB disk”.

Those 3 types of USB disk are:
- DataTraveler BlackBox (DTBB)
- DataTraveler Secure – Privacy Edition (DTSP)
- DataTraveler Elite – Privacy Edition (DTEP)

Quoted from PC Pro, Tuesday (5/1/2010), Kingston does not specify how these products can be prone to broken. Whereas previous claims that their Kingston Data Traveler Secure drives are the first USB flash drive that secures 100% data via 256-bit hardware-based AES encryption.

Before accessing the data, these drives asked for the user should enter a strong password 6 characters minimal. Data will be automatically deleted if users enter the wrong password 10 times.

In addition to informing about the defects in its products, Kingston in the site also offers consumers the handling of the product. They provide technical support contact numbers that can be reached in each country so that consumers can return the drive to be modified.
