Some of the crimes committed in cyberspace is often utilize a gap in your browser, no family except Internet Explorer (IE). Even the browser made by Microsoft is also mentioned as a favorite tool of hackers.

It’s pretty much undeniable “virtual ghost” who tried to take advantage of the existing gaps in IE, let’s call it one of the IE component which is always the ‘fine dining’ by crackers, ActiveX.

By leveraging the sophistication of ActiveX, the offender may be seeping into the victim machine without being detected by the user or some security applications. This method was quite often used for data theft.

But now Microsoft claims, that his creation IE8 more secure than previous versions, “In IE8, the use of ActiveX is limited and directly related to user accounts that are safer,” explained Tony Seno Hartono, National Technology Officer of Microsoft Indonesia.

In addition to restrictions on ActiveX, IE8 also said to be safer to surf the internet with several features like, SmartScreen Filter, InPrivate Browsing, Click-jacking prevention, and others.

“With so many new features embedded, IE8 now far more secure than previous versions,” said Tony at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Wednesday (17/2/2010). But surely, there is no browser is completely safe if not accompanied by awareness of its users.
