Hi - The thing I've got seems very similar to what you've all got, only the processor is AKARM, ARM926-AK77802-266MHz. I would be happy with it as is if I could install some more programs on it. PPC ones usually elicit a message as noted above by Eric H i.e. “NOT A VALID WINCE PROGRAM". I think you can fix this by disassembling the CAB and rewriting some headers but I think that might be a little above my programming skill level. Anybody know about this sort of thing?

Interesting comments. I purchased what appears to be the same or similar device. It is en-route now. I intend to use it mostly for writing. Have an 8 GB SDHC card, and flash drive. I was curious to see what can be done with such a minimal device. Thanks for all the advice.

I wanted to comment on a couple points in Eric H's post. Android has been released for the VIA 8505 chipset that is in a lot of these devices. I have it, so it's no longer just a rumor. The other half of these have the VT8500 chipset which does not run Android yet. VT8500 will run a form of Linux which is still very much in development while the 8505 does not yet. Both types of the device will run Youtube through a seperate application but I haven't seen it integrated into a browser yet. In regards to getting software to run it can be a challenge but adding GAPI will allow some Pocket PC software to run and using PocketDos will allow some DOS applications to run. There is also a ~65MB zip file floating around that has multiple compatible applications that will run on this devices.

I concur with most everything that was stated: Bought mine also on Ebay - Put 4Gb SD Card, and a 4Gb USB key - Had some problem with Wireless Going on and off - Could be a power issue - since I was running on battery - Removed the EXT. SD Card and rebooted, Wireless came back on - I have used both Public and Private WIFI (WPA) and they seemed to resolve fine.

I have downloaded some MPG Video's and other than size, they seem to run ok. It is hard to get the correct formatted size of videos.

I saw CHARBAX Video - He put an ANDROID Desktop and Stated it could run ANDROID- The other minions on the WEB picked up on it,and it is now an "URBAN LEGEND". It does not run ANDROID - It Runs WINCE 6 - I think thousands of hits and emails have been RUMORED because one guy put the word ANDROID next to the EASYPC 790. I really hope they do come out, but telling people something that is not true makes all the information bogus.

It DOES NOT PLAY YOUTUBE (although the MFG states it does). FLASH is NOT part of the package - It would be killer if it did.

It is a fun toy, but tough to get around all the internet standards (FLASH, JAVA, etc). Plays MP3 Music over tiny speakers ( External Jacks on). It is basically a large Development Platform. I tried to download several WINCE apps, and many of them stated "NOT A VALID WINCE Program". That is from PocketPC sites, and other WINCE sites - That is also a shame - It would be nice if someone would support the unit with APPS - Maybe needs cross compiling. -not sure.

Really hope someone either modifies a browser to run Flash lite, or can allow some apps to run native WINCE.
