DDR SDRAM stands for double data rate synchronous dynamic random access memory. It is a type of memory that is used in computer to help it accomplish tasks in twice the amount of speed as the old regular SDRAM chips of yesteryear.
Most DDR SDRAM chips have model numbers that match their speed. For example a PC-1600 chip transfers data at 1600 MB/s. A PC-3200 chip would then transfer data at 3200 MB/s which is the top speed of DDR memory.
